Teaching Objectives:

. Language objectives

1.   Ss can read, recognize and understand the words about drinks. They can also use them in daily life to order food and drinks.

2.   Ss can understand and follow the instructions.

. Ability objectives

1.   To develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking

2.   To train Ss’ abilities of communicating and cooperating with others

. Emotional objectives

1.   To develop Ss’ interest in English

2.   To get Ss know about healthy drinks and unhealthy drinks.

Teaching aids: multimedia, water, milk, Coke, juice, coffee, tea, gifts, word cards, (shopping list)forms.

Teaching procedures:

StepⅠ.Warm up

1.   Sing HelloHow are you?

2.   Greetings.

StepⅡ. Presentation

1. Review the words about food.

T: It’s Nov. 8th. It’s my birthday. I’ll have a birthday party in the KFC. And I invite so many teachers to join my birthday party. Now please say hello to our new teachers!

T: Now let’s go into the KFC. I have bought a lot of food. See! Wow, so many foods!

T: What’s this? (Ss answer.)

T: I like hamburgers. What do you like? (Ss answer.)

2. Teach the new words: water, milk, Coke, juice, coffee, tea.

T: Look! I have received many gifts. Let’s see what’s in it? Oh, what’s this? Who knows? Hands up.

S1: 牛奶/Milk.

Read the wordmilk” together, then one by one.

T: Drink the milk. (Do the action)

Ss follow.

Teach the word “Coke” in the same way.

T: Look! What are those teachers drinking? A Coke?

S2: No, juice.

Read the word “juice” together, then in groups of three.

T drinks the juice. Lead Ss to say “Drink the juice” and do the action.

T: I’m thirsty now. I’d like to drink some…

Ss: Water.

Read the word “water” together, then in groups of three.

T: Pour the water. (Do the action)

Ss follow.

T: Now look! Milk, Coke, juice, water. I like milk and juice. What do you like?

Ask several students to answer. If the student can use “I like… and… ”, praise him or her.

T: And Miss Tan also likes…

Ss: 咖啡

TYeahcoffee. Now I put some coffee into the cup. I pour the (Ss: water). Use a spoon to stir it. Then I smell the coffee. You smell it. (Let some Ss smell the coffee.) It smells good? Yes or no?

Read the word “coffee”.

T: Smell the coffee. (Do the action)

Ss follow.

T: Look! What’s this? Is this coffee? (Ss: No.) Is this Coke? (Ss: No.) Of course not.

S3: /Tea.

T: You’re right. Follow me. Pour the tea. Smell the tea. Now I taste the tea. Mm, it’s good. Then I drink the tea.

Ss follow.

3. Let’s do.

T gives the instructions and Ss do the actions.

4. Uncountable nouns: water, milk, Coke, juice, coffee, tea. We can’t say “a water/milk/juice/…”.But we can say some water/coffee/tea/….And “a Coke” is right. It means “一罐可乐”.

Step. Practice

Group competition:

Round 1 Listen and Match (T says a word, Ss put the word cards onto the corresponding bottles.)

Round 2 What’s missing? (Zoom is thirsty, too. He comes into the KFC quietly and steals some drinks away.)

Round 3 Taste and guess

T tastes, Ss guess.

S4 tastes, others guess.

Step. Consolidation

Task: Make a shopping list

T: Oh, the foods and drinks are not enough now. I will buy some more. S5, what do you like? S6, what do you like?

(T fills in the form.) Ok, each group has a piece of shopping list. What do you like? Please tell your group members.

(For example: S1: What do you like?

            S2: I like hamburgers and juice. What do you like?

            S3: I like … and … What do you like?

            S4: … …)

Step. Summary and Assessment

1. Ask Ss to summarize what they have learnt. (the words about drinks) Tell them which are healthy drinks and which are unhealthy drinks. Milk is good for us, so we should drink some milk everyday. But we shouldn’t drink too much Coke.

2. Evaluate which group is the winner.

Step. Homework

1.   Listen to the tape and read page 54.

2.   Go to KFC with your parents or friends. Try to order food and drinks in English. And use the content of Let’s do in your daily life.
